Jean Edelinck, a brother of Gerard Edelinck, and probably younger than the latter, was born at Antwerp, but in what year is not known. He preceded his brother to Paris, and there engraved several plates in imitation of his style. Although very unequal to the works of his brother, his prints are not without considerable merit. He died in Paris in 1680. He engraved several of the statues in the gardens at Versailles, and there are also by him: The Portrait of Isbrandus de Diemerbroeck, a famous anatomist; after Romeyn De Hooghe. The Deluge; after Alessandro Turchi. This plate was finished after his death by his youngest brother, Gaspard François Edelinck.
